St. George Spirits, founded in 1982, is one of the OG craft distilleries in the country. Located in Northern California and founded by German born distilling legend Jörg Rupf, St. George Spirits helped to kick off the modern American distillation movement as we know it. Their fascinating story is told by this week’s guests, the very entertaining distillers of St. George Spirits: Lance Winters and Dave Smith.

Hundreds of distillers across the country are now producing hand sanitizer to help fight COVID-19 – creating and packaging a product most of them knew nothing about just a month ago. For this week’s Bit by a Fox Podcast, I interviewed a number of people to get an idea of the scope, and all of the moving parts that went into this quick turnaround.

For this week’s Bit by a Fox Podcast episode I spoke with Bryan Davis, founder of Lost Spirits Distillery here in Los Angeles. Recently named one of the best distillery tours in the world, I had to go down the rabbit hole myself… This phantasmagoric distillery is like no other – part theme park and […]
I’ve hiked the Rockies, danced all night in Spanish ruins, and soaked in secret lagoons in Iceland surrounded by wild horses and bubbling earth; I’ve toured swamps deep in the bayou, broken bread with the locals in the mountains of Galicia, and kayaked the bioluminescent waters of Puerto Rico. If you paid attention to my social media at that time, then you know what an incredible adventure that was. It has had me […]
I can’t believe it’s been over a month since I visited the gorgeous Maker’s Mark distillery in Loretto, Kentucky. But if you’ve been following me on social media, you know that it’s been a bonkers few months of travel and imbibing across the country and continents! But it was this Kentucky visit that kicked it all off. […]

Akin to the Negroni, this drink is also having a sort of renaissance with bartenders and home cocktail enthusiasts alike. Supposedly born at the Detroit Athletic Club around 1916, the Last […]
Being the first of anything is always a challenge. Blinking Owl Distillery co-owners, husband and wife, and longtime Santa Ana residents, Brian and Robin Christianson know that all too well. After setting aside their careers and devoting nearly four years to conceptualizing, researching and planning the business and build-out of the first craft distillery in Orange County, they’ve finally opened […]
Last month I had the opportunity to visit House Spirits Distillery in Portland, Oregon, tour the facilities with head distiller, Andrew Tice and get to know founder & distiller, Christian Krogstad – one of the pioneers behind America’s craft distilling revival. House Spirits Distillery, a forerunner in Portland’s craft distilling community, is now in their 12th year of operation. And […]
